Welcome to the home of pulpy fiction productions corner for customs.

So here it is, I'm a graphic artist and illustrator located in Canada. I love animation, comics, sci fi, fantasy, movies, and music. On my spare time I customize action figures for the fun of it. My customs mainly focus on comic and movie characters, but that's not all I do. I'm an articulation nut, so the more the better, one of the reasons I love working with Marvel Legends and DC Universe figures.

On this blog, I'll be giving the lowdown of what I'm working on, what I'm thinking about doing, and how I plan to take over the world (all super heroes and would be vigilantes, please disregard this site).

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 Han Solo!

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 Han Solo!

Name:  Han Solo
Custom Type: Action Figure
Toy SeriesStar Wars
Base Figure:  Captain Cold
Height:  6.35 inches
Articulation:  24 points

The man who made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. The ultimate Captain to have in any collection is mine!
Han is mostly a DCUC Captain Cold, with DC Direct lower arms from an unknown figure. Boots from a DC Direct Green Arrow. I lost articulation, but they were just to perfect!

I want to come back to this custom again, but use an awesome glassman han head for this and swap out the Cap.cold legs with the longer DCUC Jonnah Hex legs.

Thanks for checking him out, and SHOOT FIRST!

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 Chewbacca!

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 Chewbacca!

Name:  Chewbacca
Custom TypeAction Figure
Toy SeriesStar Wars
Base FigureChewbacca statue, ML Sasquatch, and DCU Grodd
Height:  7.20 inches
Articulation22 points

What a Wookie!
I know he's a little on the large side, but this is what I finally came down to after several versions, and he's the one I'm happiest with.
His torso is a Unleashed Chewie dremilled to fit the ball joints for arms and legs of a ML Sasquatch.
His lower arms are DCUC Gorilla Grodds because I loved the sculpt and wanted that popeye arm furriness that chewie has.
I had to build the bowcaster from an incomplete one from the Unleashed figure that was sculpted into the figure.
The bandoleer was also from the Unleashed figure!
Then a lot of different browns, dark beiges, and rusty tones for layers, highlights and low-lights for fur.
I know he's not perfect, and he's a little on the tall side, but I've always loved Chewie since I was a kid, and I'm super stoked to have finished him!
Thanks for checking him out, and RRRAAAAAGHRURAGHRUUUURRR!

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 Boba Fett

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 Boba Fett

NameBoba Fett
Custom TypeAction Figure
Toy SeriesStar Wars
Base Figure:  Toybiz ML Loki
Height:  6.50 inches
Articulation:  36 points

Out of all of the legends scale Star Wars figures I've been working on, I learned the most on this one. It took forever to finish, as in years, and I had to try a lot of different methods to accomplish what I wanted from it.
Every time i thought i was just about finished there was another small detail i had missed and had to get back to. In the end because of that, I learned a lot about the character and his suit from tons pf research and reference! Like did you know the slats in his shin pockets aren't armour plating, they are signal jammers! Boba Fett is completely stealth and can't be caught on most cameras and monitoring systems!
Another cool "ditty" are the little "dodads" on the side of both Boba's knee pads, the are miniature rocket launchers!
This was a real labour of love, and I'm glad to have him done. Die hard fans can see where I took a few liberties with him, like cape placement, and putting his sidearm more forward on his belt. He has so much on that side and it helps with mobility/articulation, and heck i took the time to make the holster and gun so I want to show it off!

He's made from a Ml toybiz loki,
Hand ninja fore arms
A bootleg ML Cyclops lower legs (exactly the look I needed!)
The removable helmet, rifle, jetpack, gauntlets, and base from a Hasbro Star Wars
I was going to try to make the unmasked head head Jeremy Bulloch, the man who played Boba Fett when I was a kid. However I went with a a modified DCUC mr. Terrific, who I feel is a great likeness for Temuera Morrison, the actor who played Jango Fett, and who Boba would grow up to look like being his clone.
All other details fabricated or sculpted.

Thanks for checking him out, and may the force be with you!

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 A New Hope Luke Skywalker

Pulpy's EMPIRE: Series 1 A New Hope Luke Skywalker

Name: Luke Skywalker A.N.H.
Custom TypeAction Figure
Toy SeriesStar Wars
Base FigureBullseye
Height:  6.00 inches
Articulation26 points

So you may have noticed I'm one of those guys who doesn't have a tons of customs in my portfolio. This series of customs is why. I've always wanted 6 inch Star wars figures, and after a year or two of posting got started on these. I've worked on them on and off between other pieces, never posting when things were completed so that I could do them in series. Then the back series came out and shamed me into finishing these.
With that said, I'm really excited to present my 6 inch Star Wars series:
Pulpy's Empire!
First off is Luke Skywalker as seen in A New Hope

I sewed a shirt and did some paints on it to give it some extra life to it.
He's a ML Bullseye buck with random Buffy sized arms and hands.
From ball joints down, the legs were modified elseworlds' Pilot Green Lantern, cut off and dremilled to to fit Bullseye's ball joints.
The boots and feet are from Chow Yun Fat's Crouching Tiger figure. (a perfect fit!!!)

Saber Handle is a modified Starman staff - I think a tutorial is needed on this one, the staff supports 3 saber handles if cut right, all you have to do is see it in it!
Trooper rifle made from fodder
The head is a modified epic force-*side note*- if you are going to use this head add his above lip and below mouth moles, and it really helps to push the look because they are recognizable features.* I also cut in some extra hair detail.
I'm really excited to finally post them, I know they're not perfect, but I've wanted them for so long, and wanted to finish them for so long that I'm really happy with them and I hope you like them!

Thanks a lot for checking him out, and...
May the force be with you!
